Kitchen Appliance Styles.

Build-in appliances are by far the choice for today's new kitchens. The look and use of stainless steel is on the rise too. Refrigerators that are flush with other cabinetry and microwaves and dishwashers that are build in, or even concealed, are also popular.

The use of commercial style appliances such as cooktops and ovens, ranges and refrigerators, are very much in demand. Although these appliances are more expensive than ordinary ones, they create a look that is unique and stylish. The commercial-style cooking appliances offer high BTU cooking, a desired feature for most gourmet cooks.

Installation of kitchen appliances is being given careful consideration today. Then kitchen work triangle is still considered, by most, an efficient use of space, with the refrigerator, cooking area and main sink placed in close proximity of each other.

Installing appliances at different heights is also worth some thought and will allow for easier use by family members, such as an elderly parent or younger child. Raising a dishwasher or lowering a dish washer drawer can make these appliances more accessible. Installing a microwave at a lover level, or in the base of an island, allows younger children to use it more safely.

There are basically two initial decisions to be made. Appliances are either, what many referred to as “Commodity” or “High End”. The sticker is the best indication and should be your first priority before purchasing anything. Both commodity and high end manufacturers try to bridge the price gap with mid-range products but they often fall short of what people actually desire in their kitchen.

Kitchen Seating Area

Creating a seating area within the kitchen with a build-in table and/or bar area is a good choice and will facilitate in bringing people together for meals and spending time together. An island bar will also serve for buffets when entering as well as a convenient space for plating when serving sit down meals. An eating bar is also an ideal are for casual dining, breakfast, homework, and after school snacks.

Colors, & Features of Kitchen Appliances.

Selecting right kitchen appliances can become sometimes confusing and need special care in making the right choice. Different colors of appliances, even in the “professional” series, are now available. However, most “commodity appliance” choices are confined to black, white or stainless steel. The cost will also vary with stainless steel the most expensive.

The “Appliance Package” usually consists of a refrigerator, cooktop, oven, microwave oven and dishwasher. It sounds like a simple solution since you will only need one, or maybe two, of each.

Making Smart Choices.

Kitchen design trends should be explored when one is considering a new or remodeled space. The current styles and ideas that are making news will undoubtedly include trend-setting colors and cabinetry styles; however, today's trends will also feature innovative functional elements that should not be overlooked. It is important to make purchasing decisions and design choices after you have seen the latest appliances, sinks and faucets available. This will include new and tried-and-true models, with the latest features and technology.

And remember that cabinets are not just storage boxes-they are furniture for your kitchen- and usually the largest pieces of furniture in your home. Explore today's design trends but also, determine what cabinetry styles and features you really prefer. Do your homework and make your choices carefully. Whether trends or traditional, why not love and enjoy what you will see and use everyday?

As a final suggestion, do not buy your appliances before you begin to remodel or build a new kitchen. Many people tend to make this mistake and find out something new and innovative is now available. If you are working with designer, his or her job becomes much more difficult if they are asked to design a space around a particular appliance.
